Last night during the FA Cup 5th round fixture between Sutton United and Arsenal at Gander Green Lane, Walcott hit home a Nacho Monreal assist to claim his 100th goal for the club. The goal meant that Arsenal qualified for the FA Cup quarter finals against yet another non-league team Lincoln City.
Walcott is the 18th player for Arsenal to score 100 for the Gunners, and sits level on goals with Joe Baker. Topping the list, Thierry Henry of course!
Walcott began his career with Arsenal in 2006, and scored his first goal in February 2007 against Chelsea in the League Cup Final. His first home goals were in the Champions League game against Sparta Prague in 2007, and his first Premier League goal was scored against Birmingham City in 2008.
Theo hit 50 goals in 2012, and in 2017 he hits the 100 mark after 360 appearances.
“It’s great. I’m lost for words to be fair because I didn’t really think about it before and it’s just happened. It’ll probably hit me in a few days I’m sure, but I really enjoyed that” he told the Arsenal media.
“I’m really proud of that personal achievement of mine. Especially playing out wide, to get that many goals… I don’t want it to stop now. It’s a really good achievement, I’m really happy.
“I couldn’t have done it without the guys as well, past and present, and I can’t thank them enough, all the players I’ve played with up to this point, and this group is brilliant. That’s a special moment for myself personally.”
Keep them coming, Theo!!!
